This 200+mile bicycle ride is the largest multi-day bicycle event in the Northwest, with up to 10,000 participants riding from Seattle to Portland in one or two days. The route takes you through the scenic valleys, forests, and farmlands of western Washington and Oregon. Come ride what Bicycling Magazine has listed as one of the best cycling events in the nation!

Participants can choose to ride the event in one day or two! The midway point of the 203 mile course is Centralia/Chehalis, and Centralia College hosts the "official midpoint" and largest free camping location (Chehalis Recreation park is the second largest). However, two-day riders can stay as far away as Kelso, WA (150 miles on day one) and a whole lot of greatpoints in between.STP day one is choose your own adventure based on how far you want to rideand local community groups and non profits provide housing, meals, and a whole lot of fun no matter where you choose to stay.See the lodging page for details. There are not many hotels on course, and the veteran riders often sell them out prior to the event even opening. We do not advertise these places, as we always encourage folks to give back to the communities through which we ride and providing food, accommodation, and services is a major fundraiser for communities along the route.

The STP is a major economic boost to the area, and in addition to a lot of fundraising along the route, your registration fee not only supports Cascade Bicycle Club in its mission to improve lives through bicycling, but also contributes approximately$100,000 every year to schools, non-profits, and other community groups who provide direct services to our free food stops and at our Finish Line.

On November 27, 2014, the Division of Clinical Psychology of the British Psychological Society published a paper titled Understanding Psychosis and Schizophrenia . The paper was edited by Anne Cooke, of Canterbury Christ Church University. It challenges the psychiatric medical model that dominates mental health practice in Britain and throughout the world, and offers an alternative perspective on psychosis and on the condition known as schizophrenia.

On December 15, Psychology Today published a Crocs Unisex Crocband Flip Flop Ocean/Electric Blue AMk3h
on the BPS’s paper. Allen Frances, chair of the DSM-IV Task Force, critiqued the paper, while Anne Cooke presented the pro side. Anne’s opening paragraphs were:

“Our report has two main aims. Firstly, it is intended as a resource for people who have the experiences we think of as psychosis, and for their families. Secondly, we hope it will lead to significant change not only in mental health services, but also in wider society.

Our dream is that our report will contribute to a sea change in attitudes so that rather than facing prejudice, fear and discrimination, people who have these experiences will find those around them accepting, open-minded and willing to help.”

The pro-con piece generated a AIYOUMEI Womens Denim Platform Thick Heel Winter Blue Knee High Boots Lightblue F6NpH
, including the following from DJ Jaffe, founder and executive director of Mental Illness Policy Org:

“Anne Cook starts her piece by explaining why the report should be ignored. It was not science being served, it was a predetermined policy objective:

‘Our report has ….main aims. …(W)e hope it will lead to significant change not only in mental health services, but also in wider society. Our dream is that our report will contribute to a sea change in attitudes so that rather than facing prejudice, fear and discrimination, people who have these experiences will find those around them accepting, open-minded and willing to help.’

That explains it’s problem. Like much ‘research’ it had a political objective. Rather than find the truth and let policy fall where it may, the author’s started with a policy and then fashioned a report to support it. Reports like this make it difficult to improve care for the most seriously ill.”

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The accusation of adapting one’s science to one’s pre-conceived ideas is a serious one, and it is an easy error for any of us to fall into. So it is right and proper that we examine Mr. Jaffe’s charge on its merits.

There were a fair few pleas for special treatment for blockchains in the last few months before the GDPR kicked in — arguing that this business innovation was so very important, and had such huge potential, that the EU should definitely consider workarounds for them personally.

But there’s no way the legislators were going to give a hoot at that late stage.

I can understand businesses not quite getting around to starting the hard work until the last moment — but how did blockchain people miss an existential threat like this for two years? Did they think the EU wasn’t serious?

The GDPR is antimatter to a lot of blockchain use cases — specifically, the ones that first assume a complete surveillance panopticon.

IBM has a few of these. Their pitch is “self-sovereign identity.” IBM really, really want to sell this to you. And Pal thinks the GDPR makes this impossible.

But — what does a blockchain get you that you don’t get with a perfectly ordinary database, like IBM has sold for manner of administration of people’s personal data for a century or more?

Any data aggregation containing personal data — an even wider category than Personally Identifiable Information (PII) — must be redactable.

A permissioned blockchain offers no new integrity guarantees over just putting a plain data dump in a tamper-evident Merkle tree. Whoever controls the permissions, controls the database — and has GDPR responsibility. You’re just making it ridiculously harder to perform legally-obliged redaction.

No business wants the phrase “Cambridge Analytica, but on the blockchain” next to their name.

Personal data in a proof-of-work blockchain — that’d be flat-out insane. If you knowingly and deliberately put personal data into a blockchain that you literally don’t control, your next question will be whether Optimal Mens Safety Boot Steel Toe Boot Work Boot Composite Toe Boot Camo q4Hd2Fn
is greater than Nike Free RN Flyknit MTLC GS Vivid Purple/Blackhyper Turquoisefuchsia Glow tjGtQOYL

Of course, some people — such as the UN’s World Food Programme! — still think doing that is a great idea.

Dealing with the GDPR is not onerous — unless your business model is to abuse people’s personal information … or you were silly enough to put personal data into an append-only ledger.

There’s no GDPR police looking to catch you out. Certainly for the next few years — until everyone gets a handle on best practices — you’ll get points for sincere effort.

But, just to restate the obvious — DON’T PUT PERSONAL DATA INTO AN APPEND-ONLY LEDGER.

You wouldn’t check personal data into a Git repository and expect redaction to be easy — have you ever had to remove a binary blob from a Git repo? Tedious, wasn’t it?— so don’t even think of doing it with a blockchain.

Anyone trying to sell you a blockchain for personal data is a charlatan, and thoroughly deserves to have their business model broken.
